Postpartum Depression

Having a baby is a major physical and emotional event. Some mood changes in the weeks after birth are normal. But postpartum depression is different. It’s a persistent sadness, exhaustion, or emotional numbness that doesn’t lift, sometimes accompanied by anxiety, irritability, difficulty bonding with your baby, or intrusive thoughts that feel frightening and out of character. It can appear days after delivery or months later, and it affects far more new mothers than most people realize.

At Breeze Mental Health, we understand that seeking help during this period comes with its own barriers, including guilt, stigma, and the pressure to appear like you’re managing. We take a straightforward, non-judgmental approach. Treatment may include medication that is compatible with breastfeeding when relevant, therapy focused on the specific challenges of the postpartum period, or both. You don’t have to wait until things get worse. Early treatment makes a significant difference, and getting support is one of the best things you can do for both yourself and your baby.
